FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
In general, solid colors are best, particularly since there’s a lot of variety and texture in the natural lands of Estes Park. If you wear stripes or plaids, you don’t stand out against the pine trees and aspen groves as well as you could if you wore solid shirts and pants.
Contrasting colors are the name of the game! Reds will contrast against the green pine trees, and blues will contrast against the orange hues in the rocks here. Purples also work well. These colors will make you stand out.
Most of the sessions will require someoff-traill hiking, though it’s pretty minimal. But be sure to wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. They don’t need to be super sturdy, since we likely won’t be going far off trail, but they might get a little dusty. Close-toed shoes are best.
If your family members want an outfit change during the family portrait session, that’s totally fine. To maximize shooting time and minimize fuss, it’s best to choose an outfit where you can simply add or remove a layer on top to make it look like a different one.
WHERE WILL WE GO?
We will go to a variety of places in and around Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, depending on who is in your group and their activity levels and abilities. Many of the prettiest places are pretty close to parking areas, yet are still private and have a mountainous feel with incredible views.
We have a permit to shoot in the National Park as well, so you are covered.
WHEN CAN WE SEE THE PHOTOS?
Digital darkroom time is approximately six weeks, though it can vary depending on the season. It will likely be less in the winter months, which are not as busy. We can talk exact details when you get in touch.
All the packages come with online image hosting and digital proofing. This means you can make prints and share the images with family and friends on Facebook and other social networks.
WHAT EXACTLY DO WE GET?
All the packages come with a personal use license to the high-resolution digital files, so you can make prints on your own. They’ll be delivered via an online gallery, and you can download all the images from that gallery. You also can make prints through the gallery if you wish, or you can have them made elsewhere.
HOW MANY PHOTOS ARE INCLUDED?
It really depends on the size and nature of your group, but figure around 80-120 images.
WHAT PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE?
Should you choose to make prints through the online gallery, you can make a variety of regular prints as well as canvasses, prints mounted on acrylic, and and various other products. To achieve best quality, it’s highly recommended you print through our print house, but it’s not required.
HOW IS PAYMENT MADE?
You can pay online via electronic check. It is a simple process using military grade encryption where you enter numbers off your checkbook.
IS RETOUCHING INCLUDED?
Everything you receive is edited to the same standard as seen on this web site. All colors, contrast, white point, black point, and saturation will be similar to what you see here. Retouching is defined as what is NOT seen though the camera lens, which includes things like removing braces, filling in thin hair, or body slimming. This is billed additionally, but is rarely necessary since most things are mitigated through careful choice of camera lens and shot angles.
